I do enjoy the cross play with bedrock now, but playing it on console it just feels exactly as you'd expect for a game ported and maintained across a dozen platforms. They put a lot of thought in to optimizing it for the controller experience and mimicked the Java counterpart in as many ways as possible, even down to the redstone mechanics. I will say I wish 4J studios never stopped making the console editions. I didn't even care about the limited world sizes or being a few updates behind. Bought it day one and to finally be able to play at an unshakable 60fps, smooth lighting, and with a fantastic render distance was just unreal to me. This was back in the times where you'd see YouTube comments joke about someone having a "NASA computer" if their PC was running it well. I chugged along for a very long time at 25fps, Tiny view distance, Fast graphics etc. I started playing around September 2010 but my only PC was an Asus EEE Netbook. Yeah the beta catch-up period of MC360 was really special for me. Betacraft hosts an archive of old server software. If you're looking for an old version, go here.
